If I learned anything from two recent 10-day trips, it’s that simplicity wins when it comes to the wardrobe. I think having some staple seasonal pieces goes a long way, and I love getting to create unlimited outfits using one or two pieces that just go with every single thing in my closet. I’m rounding up 7 of my fall favorites that I’ve been getting a ton of use out of this October and sharing a few ideas for each piece that can help you style it to the max!

OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS
No secret that these are always a fall and winter favorite of mine — I recently invested in another pair of Stuart Weitzman (for 40% off earlier this summer), knowing how much use I get out of my black pair. The fit on this pair is the best (and trust me, I’ve tried them all), but if the price tag is too high, I rounded up a few similar styles below!
HIGH-WAISTED DENIM
Distressed, cropped, ankle frayed — whatever the style is, just make sure they are high-waisted this season. There’s something about a great pair of high-waisted denim that makes me feel SO put together. Even if I’m just tucking a basic white tee into them! The pair I’m wearing here is under $100!
NEUTRAL MAXI CARDIGAN
There’s so much you can do with a cardigan, but I love the maxi cardigan because it dresses up whatever you put it over. Try to find one in a neutral — I love this grey one because it goes well over anything. It’s a great way to add a layer for a little warmth without adding much bulk.
THE BEST FLANNEL
I’m apparently incapable of creating one of these lists without including Rails on it. Without a doubt, these are my favorite shirts EVER, and I’m always finding new ways to wear them. Right now, I’ve been loving to unbutton them and wear them over a white tee (very 90’s) but they look so chic tucked into a faux leather mini skirt or with a pair of black jeans.

COZY OVERSIZED SWEATER
I love investing in a great neutral oversized sweater — one that you can wear and wear without the risk of stretching or pilling. Michael Stars makes some of the best sweaters around — they’re always beautiful, breathable, and last for seasons!

FRINGE SCARF
I scooped up this scarf last year and it was one of my best purchases of the season. I wore it all winter and you gals LOVED it. It kept selling out, so it’s no surprise they brought it back for round two this year. It would make a great holiday gift and comes in a lot of pretty fall neutral colors! Oh and did I mention… it’s about the coziest thing you’ll ever wear!

STRETCH ANKLE BOOTS
If the OTK style isn’t your thing, opt for a pair of stretch ankle boots instead. They’re so flattering, and you can wear them with just about anything. I love them tucked under a pair of straight leg jeans, and wore them a ton with tights and dresses in London and Paris. This pair with the block heel are under $100 and I just got a pair of the pointy toe ones below for the holiday season!
