Are you all buried under feet of snow like we are here in Connecticut? Well, before this massive storm hit… I put together one of my favorite looks of the season (so far). Yes, you called it… another neutral outfit. I’ve been slowly building my collection of neutral pieces that are so easy to mix and match together that it almost makes it impossible not to grab them when putting together a look. This newest Chloe bag is for a project I’m working on with Bluefly (more on that soon) but I couldn’t resist pairing it with this camel colored ensemble.
Another thought that popped into my head when creating this post is how much of a high-low shopper I’ve become over the years. As I approach my 30’s (ahhh), I’ve realized the importance of investment pieces that I’ll be able to get a ton of use out of. I’m one of those people who will spend the money if I’m certain the item will get it fair share of wear (say that five times fast), and I’m happy I’ve held true to that on all my “splurge pieces.” My motto here on Oh So Glam has always been that you don’t need to be decked out in designer duds to feel GLAM, but I’ve also made sure not to waste a ton of money on trendy “it” pieces that might not cost so much, but they’re essentially worthless after a few wears. That’s not to say that you can’t find some great staples without spending a lot, but it’s definitely a balancing act and I’m learning as I go. Denim is usually something I tend to splurge on, but these $50 jeans get people every time. Paired with the right things, I’ve been asked where they’re from and people are surprised to hear they aren’t designer and upwards of $200. A great lesson to always mix and match my friends!

January 28, 2015 at 7:07 amI definitely like this outfit, the combination of black white and camel just always works wonderful! The jeans are definitely great and perfectly destroied in my opinion 🙂
I also try more and more to invest in staple pieces and I think I’m starting to get better at it. I just always need to keep in mind that when I’m investing in something I get a ton of wear out of it and therefor it’s okay to spend a little more money 🙂

February 3, 2015 at 11:37 amHi! I absolutely love this outfit – it reminds of a chic Parisian woman! It’s definitely getting pinned on to my Pinterest board. Also, great motto! After hitting my 30s, I’m a firm believer of investing in pieces (even if they are teensy bit pricier) but also being reasonable. Can’t wait to see more of your neutral styles!
